Why do the swap?
The stock LS1 power steering pumps are known as "CB" pumps. The achilles heel of those pumps is that they were engineered to use a bushing instead of a hearing. I burn them up constantly when I turn my car in the upper RPMS. The bad thing is all the rebuilt ones last much, much shorter than the stock ones. The "TC" pump, which was found on the C5/C6 Corvettes were engineered with bearings instead of a bushing. The are made of aluminum and dissipate the heat quicker and are lighter as well.
  • Upgrade to a slotted metal pulley instead of the ugly plastic OEM
  • Relocate the reservoir up and away from the Alternator, extending the alternator life
  • Pump is able to be unbolted and removed without pressing off the pulley
